Generation 1 – Kanto

The First Generation also known as Kanto, is by far he most beloved and iconic generations of the series. It was the first generation to be released in Japan in 1996 and then in North America in 1998. This generation introduced 151 original Pokemon, including fan favorites such as Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard, Squirtle, and many more. They could battle Gym Leaders such as Brock and Misty to earn badges and challenge the Elite Four at Indigo Plateau. Players could also catch wild Pokemon on their journey or trade with friends to complete their Pokedex. Kanto was also home to some of the most iconic characters in the series such as Professor Oak who gave players their first Pokemon; Team Rocket who were always up to no good; and of course Ash Ketchum who set off on his own journey to become a Pokemon Master.
